On Press Issue: Mechanical Ghosting
Potential Causes
Less than optimal layout
Solution: When possible, lay out the job to minimize ink saturation.
Ink starvation
Solution: Increase the ink settings.
Ink film is too thin
Solution: Add extender to reduce the color strength to carry a thicker ink film.
Ink does not flow properly
Solution: Addition of a free flow varnish may help. However, caution is advised as the ink may become too weak or start to tint or scum.
