On Press Issue: Trapping
Potential Causes
Too much water tack in relation to the preceding ink. The ink being printed is higher in tack than the ink that was previously printed.
Solution: Lower the tack os the ink so that it is lower than the preceding ink.
Poor press stability of the inks. The ink tacks up quicker than the preceding ink.
Solution: Lower the tack of the ink or adjust ink film thickness.
Ink strength is not properly balanced
Solution: Check the strength of the ink. They may need to be adjusted for proper color balance. On press it may be possible to add extender.
