On Press Issue: Piling
Potential Causes
Ink becomes water logged causing materials to react and precipitate
Solution: Clean up the press, put new ink in and lower water settings and make sure fountain chemistry is correct.
Too much calcium build up from the paper, fountain solution or ink
Solution: Clean the press and change the fountain solution to eliminate the calcium.
Wrong roller and/or blanket durometer, rollers set improperly, blanket packed improperly
Solution: Use proper blankets and rollers. Consult roller manufacturer for proper durometer and type. Consult blanket manufacturer for proper durometer and type.
Foreign materials are causing plate wear or build up in the printing system
Solution: Clean up and eliminate the source of foreign materials.
