On Press Issue: Scumming at Press Start up
Potential Causes
Weak fountain solution
Solution: Check fountain solution and adjust accordingly.
Conductivity or pH drift upward
Solution: Check fountain solution and adjust accordingly.
Old plates
Solution: Remake plates.
Plate/blanket squeeze
Solution: Check the settings and adjust.
Ink bleeding (tinting)
Solution: Consult INX UV tech representative.
Alcohol substitute content too low in etch
Solution: Adjust alcohol sub to proper level (dose).
Ink has too high of a water pickup
Solution: Consult INX UV tech representative. Reformulate ink if necessary.
Water settings too high. Ink is over-emulsified.
Solution: Clean the press up including all rollers. Lower the water settings and start running.
